Thump, Thump, Thump!

We've all been there. It's sometime around midnight, and you have an early class/assignment/trip to make in the morning, but a deep bass beat keeps driving through your wall and into your bedroom.
Now, that's what happened to me last night.
I'm not a party person anyway, I don't drink, fit in socially, or consider any of the throbbing beats that shake my inner organs to be music. Even so, I can put up with the occasional get together, although personally I prefer simply going out to see a movie, a meal, or a similar quiet activity, wherein I can actually hear people talk.
What I don't understand is why people would have a party in an apartment anyway. I've tried it (or at least R tried it when he lived with me), and it was cramped, loud, and meant we got several knocks and a letter on the door asking for the noise to be kept down. Surely it would make more sense for it to be held at a pub, or at the very least a building that isn't connected to several others on all sides, with a balcony opening out into the street, so the entire neighbood can listen to the racket?
Well, I digress. I ended up leaving and spending the night at my mum's house, which was closer to my morning destination anyway.
Anyway, rant over.
At least the party wasn't during the school year on a weekday, since then I'd be royally besmirched (though in the upcoming term, all of my classes start at 1pm or later...).

He's STILL here!

That's right, you heard him. Joaquin Phoenix is still around ladies and gentlemen. He didn't disappear from the world of acting. Nope, he's rapping instead. Apparently he's pretty good (rofl). But of course we all knew that and I know that he's old news....but wait! He's back in he movies....oh...wait..hold on. Nope...it's a documentary about his rapping career. Goddamn it Joaquin, I liked you in gladiator..but now? Wtf man.

So this documentary is about Mr. Joaquin Phoenix taking his retirement from his successful movie career in 2008, and deciding to pursue another career in hip-hop singing(rapping, whatever). Courtesy of http://www.imdb.com/
Then again I can respect his choice (kinda) in going from actor to musician (if that's what a rapper is). The life of an actor can be pretty tough, and I guess he's had his fun being an Oscar nominee and all. He did pretty good for himself. He's probably getting a lot of hate at the moment from people saying that he has no business being a rapper and all that. But I say "hey, give the man a chance." I'm actually kind of curious, I just might go see this movie...well rent it...maybe. We'll see.

Holy crap. Actually I just realized...what if like...what if he planned all of this in like an incredibly strategic manner? What if Phoenix knew that if he switched from actor to rapper to get all this negative attention, and then maybe switch back to actor because now more people are going to go to a movie of his because they'll all be like "Hey that actor that's a rapper went back to acting, we should go see his first movie back."

nah.....

I'm Yours

This is R singing "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz.
I recorded it.
Throughout the song he offers commentary on his own singing, and attempts (badly) to do backup vocals.
There's also a cameo from my cat, Billy.

Enjoy!

I spend too much money...

Welcome to the world of debt! That's what I told myself when I got a credit card. And now that's what I'm telling myself because I decided to finance a guitar. A lesson to all of you people who are probably not reading this and doing something else with your life...don't spend money you don't have. But then again....when you're standing in a Long and Mcquade and you see this beautiful Gibson Explorer...ugh.

Anyway so I go to Long and Mcquade and decide to buy a nice Gibson Explorer for $1,350.00 (pretty good deal)
BUT
Then I look over and see this really nice looking amp, so I'm like...hm, maybe if I plug this guitar in here it'll make a good sound. And it DID! So I ended up buying that amp to...great. A Marshall Haze 40($699.99). preeeetty good amp.

So I eventually kept getting up sold (this means that they'll keep throwing shit at you that you think you need until your wallet bursts) to the point that i said "OK that's enough for me".

Now, when you're financing anything, be sure to read the small print, because they can really fuck you up if you don't read every little detail. Oh and I also bought a Line 6 ($399) multi effects pedal...good stuff. I also picked up extra little things too like strings, cleaner, a strap etc. My point is...in the end, is when you're surrounded by things you want to buy (for me it's guitars)...walk away...especially if you don't have the money.
